German natural fiber manufacturer Mikro-Technik GmbH & Co. KG in Bürgstadt has announced a $3.2 million investment to establish its first North American operation in McCormick County, South Carolina. This expansion will create 27 new jobs and enhance the company’s capacity to serve customers across the U.S. and Canada.
Founded in 1954, Mikro-Technik specializes in processing cellulose fibers into additives for the food and pet food industries. The new facility in Plum Branch, SC is expected to begin operations in 3Q2025. The project is supported by a $350,000 Rural Infrastructure Fund grant from the state.
